Dear members,
As the festivities approach and the year draws to a close, I wanted to write on behalf of all of the staff and board team at Salford Credit Union to thank you for your valued continued custom during 2024.
Without our many partners, suppliers, colleagues & members, the services we provide to those, many of whom are finding life acutely challenging in uncertain and volatile times, would not be possible.
Creating this vital source of affordable credit provides you, our members with an opportunity to build your savings and reduce our members reliance on credit in the long run. And we know from the many members who tell us their stories each year how transformational that can be for your lives and wellbeing.
Following feedback from members this year also saw us launch our very first mobile app, which you can download from your Apple or Android App store (search SalfordCreditUnion). From the app you can check your transactions and balances, apply for loans, and do your own transfers to your Bank Account.
At our AGM in April 2025, we will be reporting on another successful year supporting hard-pressed families to afford their lives and build resilience through saving with the Credit Union. We estimate that in the last 4 years, we have saved our members over £1.5 million in interest compared with a typical high-cost money lender.
Your Credit Union has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and in January we reduced our interest rates, meaning members who borrow from us can do so at the lowest rate possible. Our rates compare well with other lenders and are in line with the high street Banks. We look forward to continuing on this journey with you in the months and years to come.
