We can help our youngest members start saving. Accounts can be open from birth, with no charge for Junior membership. We love it if young people can learn about saving up for things they want and managing their finances from a young age.
Our Junior Savings account is an adult signatory based account (parent or guardian) so we check identity and address for that adult using our standard processes and we will also need to see the child’s birth certificate. If savings are withdrawn the adult signatory must sign to confirm that they understand the money is the property of the junior member and they will not treat it as their own property.
At 18 the junior member will become solely responsible for their membership of Salford Credit Union and can start voting at our AGMs.
And because you’re a Credit Union member:
Your eligible deposits with Salford Credit Union Ltd are protected up to a total of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit protection scheme. Visit www.fscs.org.uk for more information.

If you are interested in opening a Junior Account please contact the office so we can send you a form and arrange an appointment for you to come in and provide the appropriate documentation for us to verify for both the parent/guardian and the child.
